About Me

Bleeding Kansas is an opportunity for lovers of guts and gore to get together to watch and chat about everything bloody. But, why do we love horror so? 1. It is fun. 2. It is exciting. 3. It terrifies us. 4. It makes us laugh. 5. It touches us. 6. It is fun. 7. It sparks out creativity. 8. It is escape. 9. It is cathartic release. 10. But most of all, IT”S FUN!!! 2. Ello. I'm Tabitha Durden ... cousins with Tyler. I'm the VP which at this point doesn't really mean anything but I love saying this. I made this blog so boast my ego and say you love it. I'm orginally from Alabama and when I was about ten there was a manic hobo that lived in the woods behind my house that stabed people. I had a uncle who believed aleins operated on his brain. I'm a sucker for TrueBlood. :[ My fave horror flick is They Live. "I'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm all out of bubble gum" has to be the best movie line ever. I love The Devil's Rejects because Otis looks like my daddy. Other movies I love include High Tention, Dawn of the Dead 78, Dawn of the Dead 04 (ZOMBIE BABY!!!), Army of the Dead, Signs, Tremors, Germlins, Interview with a Vampire, Shawn of the Dead, and many more but I'll stop there. I can't watch the Leprechaun movies because they freak me out to much.

  3. Hello. This is Sangjun Park who likes his steaks bleeding. I'm from Korea and I have no idea why I'm in Kansas, but hey. Favorite drink is rum and coke and one thing I wish to do in my life is to sing the album Fire by the Electric Six from beginning to end without a break. I have a thing for body horror for some Godforsaken reason, though I somehow managed not to watch a single David Cronenberg film. Also, I think the Universal monsters are pretty damned awesome and the world needs more movies featuring them. I like werewolves in particular but I don't tell people that because they think I'm furry if I do. :(

I'm an aspiring comics geek, but being so perpetually broke (and feeling guilty when I finish books in bookstores), I waste my free time with webcomics. Maybe I'll share some good horror series (like Lovecraft Is Missing) when I come across them.

  4. hiya! The basics... I'm from all over, but to make it simple from Maryland. Choice of alcohol would be dark beers. I love tales from the crypt and currently own all seasons. But because I tell myself I have a life I have not gotten around to watching them all. :) Tales from the Crypt party? Love the true blood, love this Blog Tabi! Oh and one more thing i love would be unicorns.

  5. Hey, I'm Seth Motes. I was unfortunately unable to make it to the first meeting on Tuesday, but I hope to be there for meetings to come. Anyhow, I stereotypically love zombies, and just about anything to do with them. However, they do freak the hell out of me, even when portrayed comedically. I saw part of one of the 80's zombie flicks once when I was around 9 or 10 years old, and that shit scarred me for life. Anyhow, as far as film goes, I really like horror with a good dose of humor (be it intentional or not) like Shaun of the Dead, Troll 2, Gremlins (yep, both of em) and the Evil Dead flicks. I'm also a huge fan of dark fantasy. I wouldn't say it was a horror exactly, but Constantine is one of the best examples of dark fantasy in film that I can think of, and I love it.
I'm also a huge fan of H.P. Lovecraft. Just about anything involving the Cthulhu mythos makes me smile.
My main hobby is prolly gaming, and I do love a good horror game as well. (or a game w/ horror elements.) Unfortunately, I don't think the medium as it stands generally can support a true feeling of horror throughout an entire game - I can't think of a game in which the tension didn't wear off by the time I was halfway through it. Anyway, I've gone off on what is probably a terribly uninteresting aside.
Also I'm a chemical engineering student at KU, and I like the color green, long walks on the beach, etc.

p.s. this blog pretty much blew my mind. i would pay a million dollars to the person that created it. if only i knew who it was...

  7. Hey I'm Matt and I'm the sheriff of this here town...
    Just kidding.
Anyways, I'm from Omaha, Nebraska and I was always wanted to be one of those children from the corn.
Omaha is a boring little haunt so I watched a lot of TV as a child and eventually I became facinated with horror from Monstervision and reruns on the sci-fi channel.
My favs include City of the Living Dead, Cannibal Ferox, The Universal monsters, House on Haunted Hill, anything Cronenberg, Susupiria, Tales from the Crypt, The X-Files, Dawn, Night and Day, The Descent, Audition, Pieces, Friday the 13th series, Halloween series (4,5,6 especially), Alien Quadrilogy, Zombi 2, Toxie, All Ed Wood, Don't Look in the Basement, Tetsuo: The Iron Man, Blood Feast, Blood Diner, Peeping Tom, Black Christmas, and Return of the Living Dead. FULCI LIVES!
I'm probably the biggest John Waters fan in the state of Kansas. No. Really. I'm not kidding.
I'm a simple man, interested in horror, pornography, early sexploitation film, underground film, reading, collecting things, VHS tapes, tabloid magazines, celebrity gossip, and the such.
    Horror saved my life.
    Now I spread the gospel.
    Dig it.
